Together we stand!

Prof. Gerjan Navis, UMCG

Gerjan Navis (1956) trained and worked as internist-nephrologist at the UMCG, Groningen. She was appointed professor of Experimental Nephrology in 2000, and held an endowed Chair in Nutrition in Medicine as of 2015. Her work adresses prevention and treatment of chronic kidney disease and its complications, from a range of perspectives, including biomedical, translational approaches as well as societal perspectives, and their integration. She held several positions in professional and scientific boards, ao for the Dutch Kidney Foundation , NWO/ZON-MW, and the Federation for Nephrology. She is currently a member of the Health Council, of the permanent board on Prevention of the Ministry of Health, and ambassador of the Aletta Jacobs School for Public Health. She mentored > 70 PhD students, (co-) authored > 750 peer-reviewed papers, and holds a post-retirement research position at the UMCG as of June 2022.

NUTRIM | School of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism
NUTRIM aims to contribute to health maintenance and personalised medicine by unraveling lifestyle and disease-induced derangements in metabolism and by developing targeted nutritional, exercise and drug interventions. This is facilitated by a state of the art research infrastructure and close interaction between scientists, clinicians, master and PhD students.
